FDA Questions Fosamax Increased Incidence of Femur Bone Fractures
The FDA's "Drug Safety Communication" which included osteoporosis drug Fosamax and others of its class revealed a possible link between increased incidences of femur fractures in women using these drugs. This comes as part of the agency's ongoing investigation as to the safety and efficacy of these drugs in osteoporosis sufferers who are already at an increased risk of bone disorders.. read on

FDA to Investigate Link Between Osteoporosis Drug Fosamax and Bone Fractures
Recent ABC News Investigation reports raised questions whether a link exists between the long-term use of certain osteoporosis drugs like Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva and Reclast, and particular type of leg fractures that may be caused from weakened bones.

"Recent news reports have raised the question about whether there is an increased risk of this type of fracture in patients with osteoporosis using these medications," the FDA said March 10th, in its drug safety communication. read on

FDA Report: Take Avandia Off the Market
Two officials from the FDA are recommending that diabetes drug Avandia be pulled from the market because of its potential to harm the heart. read on

Agency reports suggest that if every diabetic taking Avandia switched to a different medication, about 500 heart attacks would be averted each month. And in the third quarter of 2009, Avandia was linked to 304 deaths, the Times reports. Avandia's heart risks came to light following a 2007 study by the Cleveland Clinic, but later studies failed to show a definitive link. An FDA advisory committee is being assembled to assess whether or not Avandia should continue to be sold...read on
