Dog's Deadly Attack

Recently, a Long Island native, Diane Whipple was mauled to death in San Francisco by two dogs that weighed both in excess of a 100 pounds.

Dogs can be extremely dangerous. The two dogs that attacked Ms. Whipple were both muscular and square headed. They were both on thick chains shortened to eight links, and the dogs were the type that neighbors kept their distance.

The dogs apparently were considered dangerous and had lunged at other residents before. But no one complained, or called the police.

Instead, the dogs were allowed to live in an apartment, which was on a floor that was long and narrow.

Investigating officers learned that the dogs escaped its master when Ms. Whipple was in the hallway carrying groceries. Both dogs pounced on her and she died shortly thereafter in a San Francisco hospital.

Ms. Whipple was a former teacher in Long Island and her friends described her as a loving and giving individual.

We all must learn from Ms. Whipple's tragedy. It is important to understand that if you live near a dog that you believe is dangerous, you should contact the police immediately. Let the police investigate the dog's owner to see if it had a history of biting or menacing residents. Dog tragedies can and should be prevented. Protect yourself by speaking up before it is too late.

If you or a loved one has fallen victim to a dog assault, SSBWV&G is here to protect your rights.
